Arriving in an extended range electric Solo bus provided by British bus manufacturer Optare, peers met the CEO of Millbrook Group, Alex Burns, and took a tour of Millbrook’s vehicle emissions testing laboratory and test track.

Go North East is the North East England’s largest bus company, operating a fleet of nearly 700 buses and coaches, and employing more than 2,100 people. Over a quarter of the Go North East single deck fleet are Optare vehicles. The first fleet of fully-electric buses to be used in Scotland has been shortlisted for two separate awards. The new Optare Solo EV buses, branded Inverness Electricity and operated by Stagecoach, have been shortlisted for the award for Contribution to Sustainable Transport as well as Most Innovative Transport Project. The Optare Solo EV fleet will battle it out with other entries from across Scotland at the Scottish Transport Awards ceremony held in Glasgow on 16 June.Read More
