Scarlet Band has added ten new Euro 6 Optare Solos to their bus fleet. Scarlet Band has been operating buses since 1921 and today Scarlet Band’s focus is very much on greener travel.
The Euro 6, 9m, Solos seats up to 32 and will operate on Durham’s Park and Ride. These vehicles are the first Euro 6 Optare Solos in operation by an independent operator in the UK.
Students at New College Durham are taking part in a competition to design the livery for the new buses, which are set to showcase their new livery in August.
Graeme Torrance, Director at Scarlet Band said, “Scarlet Band are committed to greener travel and we have been extremely happy with the existing Optare vehicles in our fleet so upgrading our vehicles with the latest environmentally friendly Euro 6 Optare Solos was the obvious choice for us.”
Tim Matthews, UK Sales & National Key Account Manager, Optare, said, “Scarlet Band is a longstanding customer of Optare and we are delighted that they have chosen to replace their fleet with the latest Euro 6 Solos.”
