Newly
established company JetLine Executive Travel
Limited of Basingstoke have chosen a high-spec
Optare Soroco with which to make their first
venture into the luxury mini-coach market.
Managing Director John Adams sees the Soroco
has a natural extension to their fleet of luxury
saloon cars used to provide high quality personal
transport for their growing client-base which
includes Manhattan Jet Charter and many blue-chip
companies.
Operating from Farnborough International Airport,
Manhattan shares JetLine’s business ethos
of only offering the highest standards of service
combined with discretion. The Soroco will also
be used on exclusive PGA TaylorMade golfing
tours.
“We trawled the market extensively before
deciding on the Soroco,” says John Adams. “We
felt that the styling of the Soroco presented
the right image for our company and, working
closely with Optare’s coach sales team,
we were able to determine an internal specification
and an external finish that exactly met our
needs. Optare provided an exemplary service
throughout.
“The overall appearance is very stylish
and the fact that it’s on a Mercedes-Benz
chassis adds to the impression of this being
a high quality vehicle. We’ve chosen
a black paint finish, which, along with the
tinted windows, results in a vehicle that is
very discreet in its appearance, in line with
what our clients expect.
“We also decided on the 16-seat version
as this provides additional space between the
seats for added comfort on longer journeys.
The seats are contoured high-back Kiel recliners
with gangway armrests and three-point seatbelts
trimmed in cream leather with black piping
adding to the overall feeling of absolute luxury.
“Extensive use of soft trim, full draw
side curtains, dimmable saloon lights, air-conditioning
and an excellent heating system ensure that
we can maintain a quiet and comfortable traveling
environment whatever the outside conditions.
We offer wireless Internet connection, universal
cell-phone charging, and have drop-down screens
that enable us to play DVDs to entertain passengers
when on the move.”
Based on the Mercedes-Benz 515 CDi chassis/cowl,
the Soroco is powered by a 2148 cc four-cylinder
turbocharged unit. This uses common rail technology
to achieve good fuel efficiency and delivers
a very ample 150 brake horsepower. JetLine
have opted for the automatic transmission to
help reduce driver effort in heavy ‘stop-start’ traffic
conditions.
