Australian and New Zealand distributor for Optare buses, Bus Corp Oceania (BCO) and Bus and Coach Sales Australasia (BCSA) have announced a link up that will deliver increased sales and service reach for Optare in Australia.
BCSA will provide sales leads and service on behalf of BCO for the Optare brand in Queensland and Northern NSW.
Optare have been selected as a finalist in the Environmental Improvement category of the CILT (Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics) Awards and also in the Transport Supplier of Year category of the National Transport Awards . The entries detailed the achievements so far of Optare’s electric double deck bus, the Metrodecker EV, the world’s first truly zero emission electric double decker. Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Department for International Trade), Graham Stuart visited Yorkshire based bus manufacturer Optare today. The visit recognises the Company’s strong export growth.
Recent successes for Optare include a £21m order for 114 Metrocity buses for New Zealand and a £17m order for 94 Solo buses for Dubai. Two bespoke Solo buses serving hospital routes in Hong Kong in 2017 with orders expected to follow. These orders were won by Optare offering a range of unique and class leading solutions to its customers in each of these markets.

This week, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced the creation of the largest double-decker electric bus fleet in Europe, with 68 new electric double-deckers set to join the bus fleet in London. Mr Khan revealed that the number of electric double-deck buses in London will increase more than tenfold, and that two routes run by Metroline from Barnet to central London will be exclusively operated by electric double-decker buses. Optare have confirmed their first ever order for their Metrodecker Euro 6 double decker bus. The order from Reading Buses for five vehicles to operate on the Green Line 702 route between London and Windsor is due for delivery in June 2019 ahead of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) coming into operation. ULEZ will require all vehicles operating into Central London to meet the stringent Euro 6 engine emission standards.Read More

Kent’s largest independent bus operator, go-coach has just taken delivery of its first new bus, a Metrocity 10.8m direct from Optare.
The 37-seat bus is painted gold to mark go-coach hire’s 10th anniversary this year and is being used on route 431 from Sevenoaks to Orpington. This takes the gold bus into the predominantly TfL red bus world in Orpington and has already received positive comments from passengers.Read More

An Optare Solo designed specifically for operation in Hong Kong, has commenced service on Hong Kong Island green minibus (GMB) route No. 54M (Kennedy Town Station - Queen Mary Hospital).
